VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized healthcare provider offering vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies. As a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) – PICC Nurse, you will work as a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, collaborating with facility clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and support treatment objectives set by treating physicians. This role offers the opportunity to work across different care settings and treatment protocols, providing a different pace from traditional hospital nursing with a focus on quality vascular access care.
Responsibilities
- Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral intravenous lines using ultrasound guidance
- Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation
- Assist with management of PICCs and other vascular access devices
- Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, and declotting
- Educate facility nursing staff on PICCs, midlines, and other central venous access devices
Required Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse license
- Prior independent PICC insertion experience (required; PICC certification training is not provided)
- Experience placing PICCs, midlines, or other vascular access devices using ultrasound guidance
- Experience placing ultrasound-guided intravenous lines (USGIVs)
- Experience in vascular access device (VAD) management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- American Heart BLS Certification
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care RN experience
- Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and meet scheduling requirements
- Smartphone for scheduling and documentation
Schedule
- Per Diem position with a minimum of four (4) scheduled shifts per month
- Typical shifts are approximately 8 hours
- Availability to pick up additional shifts as needed
- Weekend availability and participation in holiday rotation required
- Consultants travel to customer facilities as assigned; scheduling requirements vary by job classification
Travel Requirements
- Travel to customer facilities as assigned throughout the Western and Southern United States
