Per Diem Registered Nurse- Infusion, 38th Street Cancer Center

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse for the Infusion department at the 38th Street Cancer Center. In this role, you will provide direct patient care with emphasis on the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will deliver competent, safe, and compassionate care based on NYU Langone Health Patient Care and Nursing Standards while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement comprehensive, patient-centered plans of care.

Clinical Setting

You will work at the 38th Street Cancer Center, part of NYU Langone Health's Perlmutter Cancer Center. Responsibilities

• Collect, assess, and document patient healthcare data
• Involve patient, family, and interdisciplinary team in identifying realistic and measurable plans of care and outcomes
• Prioritize care based on collected data
• Document assessments and reassessments in medical records
• Implement interventions in coordination of patient care in a safe, timely, and appropriate manner; apply escalation processes as needed
• Consider the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultural groups in all patient care activities
• Educate patients and families regarding health status and established plans of care
• Determine learning needs and implement educational plans; collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to modify expected outcomes
• Document learning outcomes and revise education plans, including utilization of EHR education tools
• Evaluate patient progress toward expected outcomes; recognize changes in patient condition, report findings, and evaluate intervention effectiveness
• Participate in unit activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane, and caring environment
• Demonstrate understanding of and contribute to unit throughput efficiencies and metrics
• Comply with unit-based and organizational professional standards, New York State Nurse Practice Act, and regulations of relevant outside agencies including NY State Department of Health and The Joint Commission
• Exhibit appropriate judgment in delegated activities and differentiate between activities within professional nursing scope and those that may be delegated to ancillary staff
• Comply with annual education and mandatory/regulatory requirements
• Serve as a support and resource for nursing staff and students
• Engage in self-assessment and peer review; utilize resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development
• Adhere to patient care and nursing standards; use clinical practice guidelines
• Attend unit practice councils and utilize the practice council structure to critically appraise and influence practice
• Demonstrate understanding of organizational quality and safety performance improvement plans and nurse-sensitive quality indicators

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
• Fluent written and spoken English language skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in pertinent professional organizations

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $1.44 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
