Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an inpatient position in Pediatric Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This role is part of a highly specialized division that handles over 6,000 surgeries annually, providing child-centered inpatient care to hospitalized pediatric patients requiring ENT services.
As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating closely with physicians and other care providers to manage the distinct patient population in the inpatient acute care setting. You will provide specialized care and support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based medical services while adhering to established clinical pathways and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document comprehensive health histories and perform complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examinations
- Develop assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Manage patients' overall care for primary, acute, and complex conditions, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses
- Order, perform, interpret, and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures
- Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions
- Prescribe therapeutic interventions including pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and surgical treatments to achieve expected outcomes
- Utilize evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care
- Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations
- Provide specialty-specific consultation services within scope of practice
- Facilitate patient transitions between and within healthcare settings, including admitting, transferring, and discharging patients
- Maintain timely and compliant documentation
- Participate actively in professional development and competency validation

Required Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner in Tennessee or Physician Assistant Certified in Tennessee
- Active Registered Nurse license in Tennessee
- Master's degree
- Relevant work experience
Certifications
- Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience
Compensation and Benefits
- $15,000 sign-on bonus for candidates with 2 or more years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience (paid in 3 installments over 18 months)
- Note: Sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions.
