Pediatric / Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Newborn Nursery (Batavia)

United Memorial Medical Center's Newborn Nursery is seeking a Pediatric/Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive, efficient health care to newborns through planning, directing, and providing care within a multidisciplinary health team.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the Newborn Nursery at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, providing direct care to newborns and supporting families during the critical early days of life.

Responsibilities

• Establish medical diagnoses and order and evaluate diagnostic studies
• Monitor therapeutic procedures and manage follow-up plans
• Follow established neonatal nursing standards, procedures, and practices
• Provide patient care direction to nursing and other staff
• Implement plans of care in a safe, effective, and professional manner
• Identify and prioritize teaching and learning needs of patients and families
• Facilitate efficient delivery of neonatal care
• Perform therapeutic and corrective measures within neonatal expertise in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Communicate effectively with administration, physicians, nursing staff, and other professionals

Required Qualifications

• Newborn delivery and resuscitation experience required
• Master's degree in Nursing
• Active New York State Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification
• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required prior to start date or obtained during orientation
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Schedule

• Full-time position (36 hours per week)
• Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts
• Day shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
• Night shifts: 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM
• Weekend rotation: six weekend shifts within an eight-week scheduling block

Physical Requirements

This is a light clinical role involving frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for patient care tasks. Strong visual and auditory acuity is required to observe patients, read instrumentation, monitor alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. The role requires multitasking, prioritizing clinical workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, and chemical reagents. PPE use and TB testing are required.

Compensation

• Base pay range: $100,000 - $150,000 annually
• Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts
• Eligible for additional pay components
