Pediatric Certified Nursing Assistant - PDN

As a Pediatric Certified Nursing Assistant in our Pediatric Daily Nursing (PDN) program, you will provide compassionate medical care and assistance with daily living activities to pediatric patients in their homes or facilities. This role allows children to remain in their preferred environment while receiving the support they need. You will work under the supervision of nursing staff and perform a variety of clinical and personal care tasks while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Perform and assist with medical care including basic first aid, vital signs and weight monitoring, catheter and bowel care with intake and output monitoring, and range of motion exercises as assigned by therapy professionals
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and positioning using wheelchairs and other non-life support medical equipment
• Prepare meals according to dietary and nutritional needs
• Provide personal hygiene assistance including bathing, toileting, grooming, shaving, skin and nail care, oral hygiene, dressing, and eating support
• Care for patients' special conditions and needs within your scope of authorized tasks
• Complete and maintain all required patient, family, and company documentation following each visit
• Observe and report significant changes in the patient's condition to the Nursing Supervisor
• Provide hands-on personal care and perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy or nursing services
• Perform services ordered by the physician in the plan of care that you are permitted to perform under state law

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Current, unrestricted certification or proof of training as required by your state
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
• Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with aide care policies and procedures
• Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English

State-Specific Requirements

Georgia:

• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training and competency evaluation program pursuant to 42 CFR part 483, Subpart D; or
• Completion of a Health Care or Personal Care credentialing program recognized and approved by the state; or
• Successful completion of a 40-hour training program provided by a private home care provider addressing areas specified in PHCP rules

Illinois:

• Appropriate clearing of the Illinois Department of Public Health Health Care Worker Registry; and
• Successful completion of Long-Term Care Assistants and Aides Training Programs; or
• Documentation of current registration from another state; or
• Successful completion of a Nursing Arts Program with at least 40 hours of supervised clinical experience from an accredited nursing program with proof of successful completion of the Department-established nursing assistant competency test; or
• Successful completion of a US military Training Program that includes Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program content with proof of successful completion of the Department-established nursing assistant competency evaluation; or
• Proof of completion of a nursing program in a foreign country

Colorado:

• Selection based on ability to read, write, carry out directions, effectively communicate, demonstrate competency in safe and effective care provision, and treat consumers with dignity and respect
• Certification by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies within four months of starting employment, with certification remaining current
• Aides providing care before certification must be supervised in the home by direct observation at least weekly for the first month and every two weeks thereafter until certification is obtained
• At least 12 hours of in-service training during each 12-month period

Physical Requirements

• Visual and hearing acuity
• Strong sense of smell and touch
• Ability to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations in the home or during transport

Work Environment

• Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments with possible exposure to allergens and various conditions
• Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
