Pediatric Cardiac Surgery – Family/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

The University of Rochester Medical Center's Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Team is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a well-established collaborative practice. You will work directly with cardiothoracic surgeons, surgical PAs, pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive care to patients with complex cardiac surgery conditions.

This is a full-time position with primary Monday through Friday scheduling, on-call responsibilities, and weekend coverage as needed. You will be based at 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, New York.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, assessment, evaluation, and intervention for preoperative and postoperative cardiac surgery patients
• Develop and implement treatment plans for cardiac surgery patients
• Manage wound care, surgical follow-up, drain care, and medical optimization
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to care coordination
• Assist in the management of both acute and chronic conditions
• Support families through complex and often stressful medical situations by communicating treatment plans clearly, addressing questions and concerns, and providing compassionate guidance
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to achieve excellent patient outcomes during hospitalization and after discharge
• Participate in the education of learners, including students and new employees, through clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training

Required Qualifications for Nurse Practitioners

• Master's degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
• Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
• Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner

Required Qualifications for Physician Assistants

• Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program
• Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing
• Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 scheduled weekly hours
• Primarily Monday through Friday with on-call responsibilities and weekend coverage
• Rotating shift schedule

Compensation

• Annual salary range: $98,508.00 - $132,995.00
• Individual salaries will be determined based on market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations
