The opportunity

Job Description

Peterson Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Nurse's Aid to provide basic and advanced nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This PRN (as-needed) position is based in Kerrville, Texas at a Magnet-designated, not-for-profit rural hospital recognized as one of the nation's Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic and advanced nursing care based on competence and experience
  • Perform routine personal care, change linens, and maintain patient comfort
  • Monitor and record vital signs
  • Assist with patient transport and ambulation
  • Support the emotional and physical needs of patients
  • Work as part of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and multitasking abilities

Schedule

  • PRN (as-needed) position
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple math
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the patient population on the assigned unit

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS certification
  • Nurses Aid certification, OR
  • Completion of one year formal RN coursework (such as one year of Associate Degree Nursing or junior year of BSN program), OR
  • One year of in-hospital PCT experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED/equivalent
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital or long-term care setting
