The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed provider on the Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. In this role, you will assist patients with activities of daily living, perform clinical tasks, and monitor patients to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and supportive services under RN supervision
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Perform clinical monitoring and patient care tasks
- Complete phlebotomy and EKG procedures
- Maintain unit-specific and hospital competencies and mandatory learning requirements
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
- Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Clinical Setting
- Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit (CMC MED SURG L-2) at Calvert Health System
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Maryland
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Successful completion of Patient Care Technician Orientation
- Successful completion of Phlebotomy training
- Successful completion of EKG training
- 0-6 months of related experience
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
