PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN - TELEMETRY/MED SURG

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed provider on the Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. In this role, you will assist patients with activities of daily living, perform clinical tasks, and monitor patients to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supportive services under RN supervision
• Assist patients with activities of daily living
• Perform clinical monitoring and patient care tasks
• Complete phlebotomy and EKG procedures
• Maintain unit-specific and hospital competencies and mandatory learning requirements
• Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Clinical Setting

• Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit (CMC MED SURG L-2) at Calvert Health System

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Maryland
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Successful completion of Patient Care Technician Orientation
• Successful completion of Phlebotomy training
• Successful completion of EKG training
• 0-6 months of related experience
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
