The opportunity

Job Description

Join Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician in our Surgical Co-Caring unit. In this full-time day position, you will work under the general supervision of the RN in a dual role combining patient care and unit secretarial support. You will provide basic nursing care to inpatients and outpatients, assist nursing staff with clerical duties to facilitate patient care, collect and report patient information to the supervising RN, and complete all patient care-related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care for inpatients and outpatients as needed within the surgical unit
  • Assist nursing staff with clerical support to facilitate patient care
  • Collect and report patient information to the supervising RN
  • Complete all patient care-related documentation
  • Perform basic data entry tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a CNA program, OR completion of first semester of a nursing program, OR completion of an EMT program (for hires after 10/31/16)
  • California Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire, OR California Emergency Medical Technician License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS certification from American Heart Association upon hire
  • Experience with basic data entry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Satisfactory completion of a medical terminology course or knowledge of medical terminology
  • One year of acute patient care experience, OR six months of experience in a direct patient care environment providing clerical or patient support related to provider documentation or charting
