Patient Care Technician - Selby Medical Surgical - FT 0.9 (72 hrs biweekly) (72103)

The Patient Care Technician supports the nursing team in providing direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit. You will work closely with registered nurses and licensed practical nurses to assist with patient care activities, maintain unit operations, and ensure effective communication across departments. This is a full-time position working 72 hours biweekly.

Responsibilities

• Perform hourly patient rounding
• Process and enter physician orders into Meditech
• Maintain chart organization and order
• Answer telephones and manage clerical functions
• Coordinate patient flow and information between departments in collaboration with the charge nurse
• Assist with all aspects of patient care including hygiene, comfort, and safety
• Assist with unit cleanliness and supply ordering
• Support patient and family teaching as appropriate
• Enter daily outpatient and observation room charges
• Maintain supplies and equipment
• Comply with all safety and infection control standards
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and clarify unclear communications
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families based on empathy and trust
• Promote a positive patient experience

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ohio STNA certification required within 6 months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; will be obtained during hospital orientation
• Current RQI compliance
