The opportunity

Job Description

Peterson Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic and advanced nursing care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This PRN day shift position is based in Kerrville, Texas at a Magnet-designated, not-for-profit rural hospital recognized as one of the nation's Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic and advanced nursing care based on competence and experience
  • Perform routine personal care, change linens, and maintain patient comfort
  • Monitor and record vital signs
  • Assist with patient transport and ambulation
  • Support the emotional and physical needs of patients
  • Work as part of the interdisciplinary care team

Schedule

  • PRN (as needed)
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple math
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the patient population on the assigned unit
  • BLS certification
  • One of the following: Nurses Aid certification, completion of one year of formal RN coursework (such as one year of AND or junior year of BSN program), or one year of in-hospital PCT experience

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent
  • Previous patient care experience in a hospital or long-term care setting
