Patient Care Technician - Pre/Post PACU - PRN

This PRN position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care support in the Pre/Post PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) setting. As a Patient Care Technician, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care during the critical pre- and post-operative periods.

Schedule

• 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM
• PRN (as-needed) employment

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with delegated basic patient care services
• Collect and record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, oxygen saturation, intake/output, and calorie counts, reporting findings to the RN/LPN/LVN
• Support patients with activities of daily living including meals, feeding, bathing, oral care, grooming, linen changes, skin care, and elimination assistance
• Assist with urinary catheter care
• Help with patient positioning, repositioning, dangling, ambulating, and use of mobility aids such as walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs
• Collect urine and stool samples and perform blood glucose monitoring via finger sticks, documenting and reporting results to the RN/LPN/LVN
• Communicate patient information effectively to the care team and adapt to changes in the care environment
• Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, risk management reporting, and compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures
• May be required to maintain continuous visual observation of patients and remain with them at all times unless relieved by appropriate personnel
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all policies and standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting
• Currently enrolled in a Nursing program
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification
