UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Post Surgical unit on the night shift. In this role, you will provide direct patient care in an acute care setting, supporting patients in their recovery following surgical procedures. You will work as part of the clinical team to ensure patients receive appropriate care based on their age, mobility, acuity, and cultural needs, while maintaining safety standards and infection control protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care treatments according to facility policy and procedure
- Respond appropriately during clinical emergencies
- Follow prescribed isolation guidelines and demonstrate proper use of protective equipment
- Perform handwashing according to policy and enforce safety regulations
- Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities
- Support quality standards and initiatives
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Continuously learn and upgrade clinical skills
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 36 hours per week
- Night shift: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Rotating weekends and holidays
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of applicable Patient Care Technician experience
- Previous bedside patient care experience in an acute care unit, unit secretary role, monitor technician position, or equivalent medical experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
- One of the following certifications: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $17.33 to $27.73 per hour
