Patient Care Technician Peds Cardiac ICU. FT NOC. Must have EKG cert/BART

This full-time night shift position in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU combines three clinical roles: Patient Care Assistant, Telemetry Technician, and Unit Secretary. You will provide direct and indirect, age-specific, and developmentally appropriate patient care under the direct supervision of the RN. The role requires flexibility to accept changing assignments and job duties throughout the shift and to float to other departments as needed to support patient care in any of the three positions.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care activities as a Patient Care Assistant, including direct patient care under RN supervision
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry as a Telemetry Technician
• Provide unit secretarial support including documentation and administrative tasks
• Demonstrate flexibility in role assignments and departmental floats as requested
• Utilize interpersonal skills to support excellence in customer service and safe patient care
• Troubleshoot patient care equipment
• Perform basic non-licensed patient care activities
• Manage multiple assignments effectively and organize workload priorities
• Communicate positively and professionally with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Contribute to a collaborative work environment

Required Qualifications

• EKG certification
• BART (Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia and recognition course
• Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, medical assisting (MA) program, or completion of School of Nursing fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Minimum of six months of experience as a patient care assistant, telemetry technician, or unit secretary
• Spanish language proficiency

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Competency in fundamentals of patient care and knowledge of scope of practice for unlicensed healthcare team members
• Ability to read, write legibly, and speak English professionally
• Proficiency with computer, printer, and software programs including Word, Outlook, and electronic medical records systems
• Ability to perform basic math functions
• Ability to comprehend and follow-through with instructions
• Ability to work calmly and respond courteously under pressure
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care
• Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and by telephone
• Ability to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace and patient care
• Ability to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents
• Ability to discern temperature variances through touch
