Patient Care Technician - PCT

Join UAB St. Vincent's East as a Patient Care Technician in our Post-Surgical/Rehab department. In this fulltime role, you will provide essential clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under the supervision of nursing staff, supporting patient recovery and comfort in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ambulation, including helping them to recliners, bathrooms, hallways, and safely to their vehicles upon discharge
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living
• Report findings and changes in patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff and document necessary records
• Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and medical equipment
• Perform technical patient care duties as directed by the staff nurse, including oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs
• Obtain and record vital signs, weight, and intake and output measurements
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Fulltime position: 7am - 7pm
• 36 hours per week
• One weekend per four weeks

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency, OR one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience
• BLS Provider certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained within 30 days of hire date or job transfer date
