The opportunity

Job Description

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for our outpatient same-day surgery department. In this role, you will provide basic patient care services and support clinical activities in an outpatient setting, working with patients across all age groups from adolescence through geriatrics. You will work Monday through Friday with no weekend requirements, performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and record vital signs including height, weight, and blood pressure
  • Perform visual acuity and color vision screening
  • Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis
  • Perform reception and clerical tasks
  • Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use
  • Clean and maintain patient care areas and treatment rooms
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
  • Monitor stock levels of medical inventory and restock or reorder as needed
  • Work patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-related patient care and cultural diversity

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • 8-hour day shifts with varying start times of 5:30 a.m., 6:00 a.m., or 8:00 a.m.
  • Monday through Friday, no weekends required

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for health care providers required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment
  • If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Minimum of six months of experience
  • Experience in a clinic setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Compensation

  • Salary range: $15.00 to $23.00 per hour
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus available to eligible candidates
