Mercy Hospital Ft Smith is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide clinical support under the direction of an RN or LPN. In this role, you will assist patients in achieving their highest level of wellness by performing designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in individualized patient care under RN or LPN supervision
  • Perform designated clinical procedures
  • Complete non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care
  • Work cooperatively as part of the healthcare team

Clinical Setting

  • Mercy Hospital Ft Smith, Fort Smith, Arkansas
  • Full-time, regular position

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Current enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum, OR age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program, OR current Mercy employee
  • If no previous experience: Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets Arkansas Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. This program must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCT position per state guidelines.
  • BLS certification required within one month of hire
  • PCT competencies must be completed within three months of hire

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • EMT, Paramedic, or previous patient care experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) certification in Arkansas
  • Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT)
