Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Anderson Hospital. In this role, you will provide basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. You will be responsible for sanitizing and cleaning patients' rooms, monitoring patients' health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assist with mobility, including unit-based specialty duties
- Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns
- Provide high-level customer service to all patients, patients' families, visitors, and employees
- Provide accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care
- Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving
- Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated
- Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques which foster independence and safety
- Foster independence by encouraging patients to complete tasks as independently as possible
- Individualize care based on patient's interests and hobbies
Schedule
- 36 scheduled weekly hours
- Evenings/Nights shift
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of one of the following: nursing aide training program, STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if Ohio long-term care), CNA Certified Nurse Aide, Nurses Aide state testing, or completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation, OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting
Certifications
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility, with a preference for the setting in which you are applying
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
