Harbour View Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic health care and support to patients on the Medical-Surgical unit under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assistance with mobility
- Perform unit-based specialty duties as assigned
- Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns
- Provide high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees
- Document patient care accurately, precisely, and timely when applicable
- Participate in hand-off and report of pertinent patient and departmental information upon arrival and when leaving
- Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated
- Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that foster independence and safety
- Foster patient independence by encouraging completion of tasks as independently as possible
- Individualize care based on patient's interests and hobbies
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of one of the following: nursing aide training program, STNA State Tested Nurse Aide certification (required if Ohio long-term care), CNA Certified Nurse Aide, Nurses Aide state testing, or completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation, OR one year of relevant experience in a clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications
- BLS Basic Life Support certification upon hire (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility, with preference for the setting in which applying
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training
