The opportunity

Job Description

Holy Name Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Medical-Surgical unit (1E) on a part-time night shift basis. In this role, you will work under the direction of registered nurses to provide essential patient care support on a 361-bed acute care hospital unit.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic patient care procedures as delegated and supervised by the registered nurse
  • Take and record patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain scores
  • Maintain accurate intake and output records for assigned patients
  • Assist with personal hygiene care including bed baths, showers, incontinence care, hair care, nail care, and skin care
  • Assist patients with meals and feeding for those unable to feed themselves
  • Distribute nutrition and drinking water
  • Obtain routine specimens including urine, sputum, and feces
  • Perform treatments as instructed by the RN, including enemas, ice collars, sitz baths, perineal care, Foley catheter care, SCD boots, and TEDs
  • Assist the RN with cardiac monitor leads and pulse oximetry placement
  • Perform CPR
  • Empty and measure drainage bags and canisters, recording contents on intake and output records
  • Assist with post-mortem care
  • Assist patients with transfers, ambulation, and positioning using safe lift equipment
  • Assist with patient restraint as ordered by the physician and directed by the RN
  • Clean and organize bedside units, utility rooms, nourishment areas, nurses' station, and unit equipment
  • Report all observations and results to the RN
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation HeartSaver CPR certification upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of relevant or related experience
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association certification upon hire

Schedule

  • Part-time night shift position

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay range: $18.00/hour - $26.00/hour
  • Final base compensation determined based on employment status, skills, education, and experience, with consideration for pay equity
