Patient Care Technician - PCT (Hospital Services) Essex Acutes

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide hands-on dialysis care in a hospital setting. This role offers an entry point into healthcare with paid training and no prior dialysis experience required. You will work directly with patients who have kidney disease, supporting them physically and emotionally throughout their treatment.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at 201 Lyons Ave, Newark, New Jersey, 07112-2027, in a hospital dialysis unit. You may be required to float between facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one dialysis care to patients with kidney disease
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Set up dialysis machines and observe treatment
• Support patients physically and emotionally throughout their care
• Educate patients on dialysis-related topics
• Collaborate with nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other care team members

Required Qualifications

• Accredited high school diploma, GED credential, or equivalent
• Comfort working with blood, needles, and medical equipment
• Physical stamina for long shifts (up to 12+ hours)
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Flexibility to float between facilities as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous healthcare experience such as CNA, MA, Phlebotomy, CHT, or BONENT certification

Schedule

This position requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may extend up to 12 or more hours.

Additional Requirements

• Full vaccination against COVID-19 may be required by hospitals in this program, which may include a booster when eligible.

Compensation and Benefits

• Wage range: $21.50 - $33.50 per hour (compensation depends on qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience)
