Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Float Pool

Join DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in our Float Pool, providing essential direct and indirect patient care support across multiple units. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses, assisting with a variety of patient care activities and responding to patient needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Clinical Setting

DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital is located in Commerce Township, Michigan, in Oakland County. The facility features the Harris Birthing Center with private birthing suites, the Charach Cancer Treatment Center (affiliated with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center), cardiac services, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic care. The hospital consistently ranks among the top in the nation for emergency services, obstetrics, and ambulatory surgery.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse, including feeding, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene assistance
• Report changes in patient medical and emotional condition to the registered nurse
• Assist nursing personnel in responding to emergency patient situations
• Collaborate and cooperate with care team members to ensure consistency and quality of care
• Follow all departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, environmental protocols, and infection control standards
• Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy; answer questions from patients and families within the scope of your training and abilities
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Perform general clerical duties as required by unit needs, including answering telephones and call lights, greeting patients and visitors
• Participate in workshops, educational programs, and in-service meetings to maintain competencies
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• One of the following:
• Graduation from a school of practical nursing
• Completion of a Certified PCA/PCT Program
• Completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant Program or equivalent training
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program
• Completion of an EMT program
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months of direct patient care experience

Schedule

• PRN (as-needed) position
• Day shift
• Float Pool assignment across multiple units
