University Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Emergency Room at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a PRN (as-needed) position with varied shifts and approximately 4 hours per week.
Clinical Setting
You will work in an acute care emergency room environment, providing direct patient care alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide top-tier patient care in an acute care setting
- Perform technical duties with support and formal training
- Work collaboratively with nurses and healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification at time of hire; certification must be maintained for continued employment
- Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) training, OR meet one of the following:
- Failed a professional or practical nursing licensure examination within the past three years
- Current certification as a nursing assistant per Missouri state regulations
- Documented education as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant, or surgical technician
- Documented experience as a nurse assistant within the past three years
- Documented experience in a current healthcare setting providing clinical care under supervision
- Completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and awaiting licensure examination in this country
Note: If the above criteria are not met, the incumbent is prohibited from providing direct patient care to acute care patients undergoing procedures in the outpatient setting.
