Patient Care Technician (PCT) - CCU4, Part-Time Nights

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for CCU4, a 24-hour per week part-time night position. You will provide direct patient care and support in a critical care unit setting at an 851-bed, Magnet-designated hospital serving the Fort Worth and Tarrant County communities.

Clinical Setting

Texas Health Fort Worth is a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Cardiac Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level I Trauma Center. The hospital offers advanced care in cardiovascular services, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, neurosciences, orthopedics, and emergency medicine, with specialized programs in advanced hip and knee replacement, brain tumor treatment, comprehensive spine care, advanced palliative care, and kidney transplantation.

Schedule

• Part-time nights: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• 24 hours per week
• Weekend and holiday requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assistance based on the plan of care and patient/family preferences
• Collect and report patient data and support admission, transfer, and discharge processes
• Perform technical procedures safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and proactively meet patient and visitor needs
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines
• Participate in process improvement, adhere to safety goals, and advocate for patients

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One of the following upon hire:
• PCT training through Texas CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program, or Texas Health-approved program (certification not required to maintain after hire)
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B or equivalent military medical training)
• Nursing student who has completed fundamentals coursework or foreign nurse degree program
• One year of applicable patient care experience in lieu of active certification
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification prior to providing independent patient care, maintained quarterly
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training, maintained annually within 90 days
• Compliance with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency when applicable

Additional Information

Nursing students who do not complete their nursing degree but have completed fundamentals training, and EMTs who do not formally retain EMT status, may continue in the PCT role if they have consistently demonstrated competent skills in their position.
