Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our clinical team on a part-time basis. This role supports nursing staff in delivering direct patient care across our 12 facilities in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, including our 674-bed main campus. You will work with diverse patient populations across 38 medical services including cancer care, emergency care, orthopedics, and cardiovascular care.

- Rotating weekends
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation of unit and patient rooms for admissions, transfers, and post-operative patients
- Use proper body mechanics when positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating patients; apply and use appropriate equipment as needed
- Understand and implement measures to reduce the risk of health-associated infections
- Report changes in patient condition or behavior to the LPN/RN in a timely manner
- Assist with admission, transport, transfer, and discharge of patients, including care of personal property and clothing
- Ensure patient personal and oral hygiene needs are met daily and as necessary
- Provide catheter care daily and as needed; report pertinent observations to LPN/RN
- Accurately take vital signs and record in patient record promptly; report to LPN/RN
- Distribute water and record correct intake and output when indicated
- Obtain and label specimens accurately (sputum, stool, urine) while maintaining precautions
- Prepare patients for surgery and other procedures, including prep and clip, vital sign taking and recording, assisting with bathing and voiding, and removing and securing dentures, jewelry, and belongings
- Weigh patients as assigned; record weights and alert RN to any weight gain or loss
- Make frequent patient rounds at least every two hours; reposition for comfort and offer bathroom assistance
- Assist RN with post-mortem care, including labeling and securing patient valuables
- Provide patient care as directed by licensed nurse, including enemas, sitz baths, applying and removing ice bags, K-pads, binders and pelvic/buck's traction, blood glucose monitoring, and simple dressing changes
Required Qualifications
- CPR Certification
- High school diploma preferred
- State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification preferred
- One year of experience preferred
- If assigned to the NURSING-6 DE HMT SOUTH cost center, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate must be obtained within 90 days of employment
