This part-time day position offers an opportunity to support the nursing team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care on a Surgical/Oncology unit. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to assist patients with their daily care needs and help maintain a safe, organized care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff with basic patient care services and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment
  • Collect and record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, oxygen saturation, intake/output, and calorie counts, reporting findings to the RN/LPN/LVN
  • Support patients with meals, feeding, bathing, oral care, grooming, linen changes, skin care, elimination assistance, and urinary catheter care
  • Assist with patient positioning, repositioning, dangling, ambulating, and using mobility aids such as walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs
  • Collect urine and stool samples and perform blood glucose monitoring via finger sticks, documenting and reporting results to the RN/LPN/LVN
  • Communicate patient information effectively to the care team, adapt to change, and maintain professionalism in all interactions
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives, risk management reporting, and compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures
  • Maintain continuous visual observation of patients when required and remain with them at all times unless relieved by appropriate personnel
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all policies and standards

Required Qualifications

  • BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program
  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification
