Patient Care Technician, Part-Time, Days, 6a - 6:30p, Intermediate, Cherry Hill

Jefferson Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of licensed clinical team members. This part-time position is based in Cherry Hill and offers the opportunity to work in a patient and family-centered care environment while supporting the interprofessional healthcare team.

Clinical Setting

You will work within Jefferson Health, a nationally ranked healthcare system serving the greater Philadelphia region, Lehigh Valley, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey. The position may involve collaboration across all clinical departments and may include telehealth support.

Responsibilities

• Provide designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of licensed clinical team members
• Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners
• Actively promote and maintain a safe patient care environment
• Conduct patient rounds as assigned and anticipate patient needs
• Answer and respond promptly to patient call lights or pages
• Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations
• May be assigned the role of virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs
• May facilitate clinical exams under the direction of distant providers, utilizing peripheral devices, video conferencing equipment, and software such as Epic and Vidyo to ensure comprehensive virtual care encounters

Schedule

• Part-time position
• Days shift: 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Location: Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs, and your role in the interprofessional team
• Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role
• Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life and ability to apply this knowledge to patients
• Knowledge of risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and ability to take steps to reduce these risks
• Ability to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family, and designated care partner in care
• Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and ability to convey respect and connect effectively
• Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs
• Use the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and healthcare
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross upon hire

Physical Demands

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
• Push/pull patients on beds and stretchers (requires 29 lbs. push force)
• Perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight
• Frequent to continuous standing and walking (patient transporters may walk 8-10 miles per shift)
• May be required to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as specific to role

Additional Requirements

• LVHN colleagues must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $18.66 to $26.60
• Actual hiring rate determined based on candidate experience, skills, and qualifications
• This position is not eligible for an annual incentive
