Patient Care Technician - Observation - Flex 0.6 (48 hrs biweekly) (71966)

Memorial Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Observation to support nursing staff in providing quality patient care. This is a flex position working 48 hours biweekly in an observation unit setting.

You will work in an environment focused on continuous quality improvement, assisting registered nurses and licensed practical nurses while maintaining clear communication across nursing units and hospital departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform hourly patient rounding
• Process physician orders and enter written orders into Meditech
• Maintain chart organization and answer telephones
• Coordinate patient flow and information between departments in collaboration with the charge nurse
• Assist with all aspects of patient care and unit maintenance, including cleanliness and supply ordering, as assigned by the RN
• Document patient care activities in Meditech as appropriate
• Assist with patient and family teaching as needed
• Maintain supplies and equipment
• Enter daily outpatient and observation room charges
• Comply with all safety and infection control standards
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and clarify unclear communications
• Use proper channels of authority when communicating information
• Assume responsibility for own behavior and complete all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (will be obtained during hospital orientation)
• Current RQI compliance
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse team members
• Clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity skills
• Color vision and near visual acuity
• Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics
• Ability to read, write, and perform math at high school level

Schedule

• Flex position: 48 hours biweekly
