Patient Care Technician (Nights)

Children's Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiology C8 unit in Dallas, TX. In this on-site role, you will assist nurses and respiratory therapists in delivering patient care to children ranging from newborn to 18 years old, while supporting a positive patient and family experience throughout their stay.

You will work the night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies based on patient age and clinical needs
• Perform basic patient care tasks including baths, vital signs, positioning, ambulation, and proper disposal of hazardous waste
• Document intake and output and complete other tasks delegated by the registered nurse within your scope of duties
• Perform advanced patient care tasks as assigned by your unit
• Respond quickly to patient and family needs and collaborate with the RN to problem-solve appropriately
• Maintain a safe patient environment at all times
• Transport stable patients to procedures, testing, or discharge as needed
• Assist in emergency situations by initiating BLS, continuing chest compressions, and participating as a runner
• Assist with unit regulatory readiness, including code cart checks
• Demonstrate competency in skills identified on the unit-based competency checklist
• Document legibly and completely
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program (if a student)
• One year of experience as a CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant (if not a student)

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of field experience as a paramedic or EMT
