Patient Care Technician- Neurology- Night

Join Endeavor Health as a Patient Care Technician on the Neurology Unit, providing direct patient care support during night shifts. You will work under the supervision of RN/LPN staff to assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, vital sign monitoring, and specimen collection in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois, serving patients on the Neurology Unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, and bed making under RN/LPN supervision
• Answer and respond to patient call lights promptly
• Assist with patient exercise and ambulation using correct body mechanics; maintain patient physical safety and comfort under RN/LPN supervision
• Obtain and record patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks; report abnormalities to the nurse
• Perform procedures as directed by RN/LPN, including EKGs, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, and backrubs
• Collect specimens such as urine, feces, and sputum and deliver as necessary
• Document basic patient care into the electronic medical record
• Assist nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety
• Answer unit phones and effectively direct calls to appropriate parties
• Perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed

Schedule

• Full-time position, 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• New Employee Orientation: Must be available Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, during the first week of employment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited CNA course and successful completion of the CNA certification exam, OR current EMT or paramedic certification, OR current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly pay range: $18.84 to $27.32, determined by expertise and years of experience.
