Patient Care Technician - Neuro Surgical (PCT) - Gateway

Join the Neuro Surgical Unit at Deaconess Gateway as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) and provide specialized support to patients with neurological and neurosurgical needs. This 32-bed inpatient department, plus a 5-bed short-stay pod, offers a unique opportunity to develop clinical skills in a highly specialized setting while working alongside expert nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals.

Clinical Setting

The Neuro Surgical Unit is located within the Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital at Deaconess Gateway. You will care for patients before and after complex neurosurgical procedures, including neck, back, and brain surgeries, as well as patients with neurological conditions and head, neck, and back pain diagnoses. The unit provides exposure to advanced specialty care and innovative treatment approaches, including blood transfusions and select IV infusion therapies through the short-stay pod.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care needs, including bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes
• Support patient mobility, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient observations
• Accurately record important information in patient charts
• Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and families throughout their treatment and recovery
• Contribute to a safe, positive, and patient-centered care environment
• Work closely with nurses and the interdisciplinary care team

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire
