Sentara RMH Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Medical Oncology department at our Magnet-designated, 238-bed community hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of nurses to provide essential patient care services, including vital signs monitoring, blood draws, patient hygiene and ambulation assistance, foley catheter care, and support with admission and discharge processes. You will be part of a collaborative team committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients.
Clinical Setting
Sentara RMH Medical Center serves a seven-county area and features the RMH Hahn Cancer Center, a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest cancer treatment technologies, administering more than 18,000 cancer treatments annually.
Responsibilities
- Take and record patient vital signs
- Perform blood draws
- Assist with patient bathing, hygiene, and ambulation
- Provide foley catheter care
- Support admission and discharge processes
- Meet patient needs while working under nurse supervision
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
Schedule
Third shift (nights), full-time position.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more of the following:
- Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) certification
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
- Emergency Services certification (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic)
- Current enrollment in a clinical program (RN, LPN, RT, or PT) with at least one semester completed
- Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous direct care experience
Compensation
Base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 to $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available, including shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
