Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care and support on the Medical Cardio Pulmonary/Pulmonary Acute unit at our East Patient Building in Sioux Falls, SD. This is a part-time evening position working 12 hours per week with no weekend commitment and every other holiday commitment.
Clinical Setting
You will work on an acute medical cardio pulmonary/pulmonary unit, providing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patients
- Record vital statistics and other basic health information
- Administer basic health care and medical treatments
- Assist patients with daily living activities including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and dining
- Support patients' emotional and spiritual needs
- Manage patient laundry and clean patient living areas and treatment rooms
- Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients
- Prepare patient treatment areas for use and prepare and clean medical equipment
- Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
- Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
- Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe provision of care
Schedule
Shift times are 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM, 5:00 PM - 11:00 PM, or 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM. You will work two 6-hour shifts per week with no weekend commitment and every other holiday commitment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
- If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, you must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or within a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment
- If working in Wisconsin, you must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or be a student nurse currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
Compensation
Salary range: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour.
