Patient Care Technician Med Surg Days

Jersey City Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical-Surgical Unit-I on a day shift. In this part-time role, you will work as a vital member of the nursing team, supporting Registered Nurses in providing hands-on patient care and helping create a safe, welcoming environment for patients on the medical-surgical unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, mouth care, and skin care
• Take and monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) and phlebotomy as directed
• Provide bedside care and assist with patient mobility
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed
• Participate in ongoing communication with nursing colleagues regarding patient care status
• Participate in collaboration of the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program
• CNA certificate

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Every other weekend
• Some holidays

Compensation

• Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.45 per hour
• Compensation offered will depend on educational background, skills, and professional experience
