Patient Care Technician - Med Surg 4NS, Full-Time Days, Marlton

Virtua Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Med Surg 4NS in Marlton. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, you will assist patients with activities of daily living and support the healthcare team in delivering compassionate patient care.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at Virtua Health's Marlton facility (Rt 73 and Brick Road) on a medical-surgical unit. Virtua Health is a Magnet-recognized health system with five hospitals, seven emergency departments, and seven urgent care centers across South Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Support patients' activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting and hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport
• Demonstrate standard precautions including care of patients in isolation and safe patient handling practices
• Perform technical duties as directed by RN or LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care specific to the patient population
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN or LPN and respond appropriately
• Reinforce patient and family education regarding individual care needs and safety issues
• Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities
• Assist in orientation of new hires
• Document care appropriately

Schedule

• Full-time, day shift position
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• On-site employment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Successful completion of a PCT course, fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or equivalent of one year of direct patient care experience
• Strong communication skills
• Knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards

Licenses and Certifications

• BLS certification required
• Phlebotomy training and education required for Emergency Department positions

• Hourly rate: $19.54 - $29.20 (based on experience, internal equity, and market alignment)
