The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - ICU Float assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in the intensive care unit across multiple departments as needed. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services and maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the shift, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information within your competency
- Assist with patient activities of daily living including meals, bathing, oral care, grooming, and elimination
- Change bed linens as needed
- Assist with patient mobility including positioning, repositioning, dangling, and ambulating patients
- Assist patients with the use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs
- Obtain and collect patient specimens
- Cross-train to unit clerk duties as needed
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures and observe State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of experience in an acute care setting, or currently enrolled in a Nursing Program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
