Job Description

Join Memorial Health System as a Patient Care Technician in the ICU/CVICU (4 West) unit. In this full-time position (0.9 FTE, 72 hours biweekly), you will support the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care while maintaining the highest standards of safety, infection control, and confidentiality.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a fast-paced intensive care environment, supporting registered nurses and licensed practical nurses in the provision of comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hourly patient rounding
  • Process physician orders and maintain chart organization
  • Answer telephones and enter written physician orders into Meditech
  • Coordinate patient flow and information between departments in collaboration with the charge nurse
  • Assist with all aspects of patient care and unit maintenance, including cleanliness and supply ordering, as assigned by the RN
  • Document patient care activities in Meditech as appropriate
  • Assist with patient and family teaching as needed
  • Maintain supplies and equipment
  • Enter daily outpatient and observation room charges
  • Comply with all safety and infection control standards
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members using proper channels of authority
  • Clarify any unclear communication between team members
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families based on empathy and trust
  • Promote a positive patient experience
  • Assume additional duties as necessary

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (will be obtained during hospital orientation)
  • Current RQI compliance

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Clerical and numerical competency
  • Manual dexterity, color vision, and near visual acuity
  • Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics
  • Ability to read, write, and perform math at a high school level

Compensation and Benefits
