Patient Care Technician I PRN, Post Acute Rehab

As a Patient Care Technician I PRN in Post Acute Rehab, you will provide direct patient care under the direction of professional nursing staff. You will work with patients in a rehabilitation setting, assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, performing blood draws, collecting specimens, and supporting the interdisciplinary care team in delivering quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Take and document patient vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, and pain level
• Assist patients with activities of daily living including feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring
• Perform blood draws and collect specimen samples using proper identification and collection techniques
• Conduct blood glucose monitoring and document results
• Provide wound care, skin care, and hygiene; report any impaired skin integrity or wound concerns
• Conduct indwelling urinary catheter care and apply, maintain, and remove external urinary catheter devices
• Provide orthopedic and rehabilitation device care including braces, splints, CPM devices, and compression wraps or stockings
• Measure and document dietary intake, urinary and stool output, calorie counts, and patient weight
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
• Maintain patient rooms and work areas; manage patient care supplies and linen
• Participate in hourly patient rounding with the healthcare team
• Respond to patient-triggered alarms including call lights, chair alarms, bed alarms, and tele-sitter alarms
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
• Promote patient safety including fall prevention and safe lifting techniques
• Provide post-mortem care as needed
• Detect, report, and correct safety risks; report adverse events and near misses
• Provide professional vigilance to assigned patients, including when assigned as a patient safety companion
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to carry out the plan of care
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare facility

Schedule and Compensation

• PRN position with rotating 12-hour shifts
• Pay rate: $19.50 per hour (flat)
