The opportunity
Job Description
Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center and Union is hiring a Patient Care Technician I for full-time work in the Emergency Department. This position operates on an evening shift from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and involves assisting physicians and nursing staff in providing direct patient care and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, and dressing
- Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and heights
- Assist patients with mobility, including ambulation, transfers, discharges, and range of motion activities
- Perform post mortem care
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and blood glucose monitoring
- Observe and report changes in patients' condition to the RN
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and inventory
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient, compassionate nature
- Ability to operate as part of a team alongside physicians and nurses
- Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
