Patient Care Technician-Hematology/Oncology

Join Beth Israel Lahey Health as a Patient Care Technician in our Hematology/Oncology unit. In this role, you will collaborate with registered nurses to provide quality inpatient care to patients across all age groups, from neonates through elderly patients. You will work as part of a growing nursing team, contributing directly to patient safety and comfort while developing your clinical skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with registered nurses on developing and implementing patient care plans
• Develop and maintain clinical competencies as delegated by registered nurses
• Implement nursing safety interventions and use protective devices/equipment to maintain safety for patients at risk of preventable injury, under registered nurse supervision
• Report all patient activity to the registered nurse in a timely manner

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 0-1 years of related work experience
• Basic computer familiarity and ability to navigate web-based applications at a basic level
• Ability to read and write in English to understand safety instructions, take direction from supervisors, and communicate with patients, families, and medical center staff
• Ability to understand spoken English to follow safety instructions and take direction from supervisors

Physical Requirements

This position involves medium work, requiring the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature, requiring you to stand and move around through the majority of your shift.
