Andalusia Health in Andalusia, AL is seeking a Patient Care Technician for full-time night shifts. This 88-bed, Joint Commission-accredited hospital provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient specialty services and has earned chest pain and heart failure accreditations, as well as Baby-Friendly hospital designation. In this role, you will perform patient observation, document patient care and response to treatment, and communicate significant information to the registered nurse and care team.

Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Provide basic care to ill patients, including positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulation
- Apply and utilize special equipment such as binders and anti-embolic stockings
- Assist with bed pan, urinal, and commode use
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative care
- Provide bed baths, oral care, hair care, and back care
- Change bed linens and maintain clean patient rooms and bedside areas
- Take and accurately record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, and blood pressure
- Record intake and output measurements accurately and in a timely manner
- Prepare patient rooms and beds for admission, transfer, and discharge
- Ensure all necessary equipment is available in patient rooms
- Maintain attractive, comfortable, and clean patient environments with attention to ventilation and lighting
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
- Handle and care for patient belongings and personal property
- Answer patient call lights, telephone, and paging system promptly
- Perform routine treatment procedures such as enemas and application of heat and cold appliances under RN direction
- Release, remove, and reapply patient restraints under RN direction
- Ensure proper patient positioning and body alignment
- Assist registered nurses and LVN/LPNs with complicated patient treatment procedures
- Serve and remove patient meal trays in a timely manner
- Assist with patient feeding and food preparation
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Perform duties under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse
- Function as a member of the patient care team
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS certification
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Good and regular attendance
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, and set priorities
- Ability to function under stressful situations
- Ability to maintain good working relationships within and across departments
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Patient Care Training program
- State Certified Nursing Assistant licensure
- Healthcare experience
