Patient Care Technician - Float Pool - Days

Join Endeavor Health's Nursing Assistant Resource Team (Float Pool) as a Patient Care Technician at Swedish Hospital in Chicago. In this full-time position, you will provide direct patient care support across inpatient nursing units, working day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with every other weekend and rotating holidays required.

You will work under the direction of Clinical Nurse Managers to assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, elimination needs, nutrition, and mobility. Your responsibilities will include setting up patient rooms for admissions, attaching monitoring equipment such as ECG cables and pulse oximetry, taking and documenting vital signs, performing point-of-care blood glucose monitoring, and assisting with patient ambulation and range of motion exercises. You will maintain accurate electronic medical records documentation, perform 12-lead ECGs as directed, and ensure proper cleaning and stocking of patient care supplies and equipment.

You will communicate regularly with the nursing team regarding patient changes and observations, perform patient rounding and repositioning every two hours, and maintain strict adherence to patient safety protocols including fall precautions, standard precautions, and safe patient handling guidelines. Additional duties include managing patient output measurement and documentation, gathering linens, performing daily Accu-Check quality controls at midnight, and providing handoff reports to the oncoming Patient Care Technician.

Schedule and Travel

This is a full-time position working 32 hours per week on day shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM). Every other weekend and rotating holidays are required. The position floats to inpatient units as needed.

Compensation

Hourly pay range: $18.84 - $27.32. The rate offered is determined by candidate expertise and years of experience, among other factors. No sign-on bonus is offered.

Required Qualifications

• CNA certification, or successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training course, or minimum six months of previous patient care experience, or equivalent, or completion of one nursing clinical rotation
• American Heart Association CPR Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to interact effectively with others
• Ability to uphold confidentiality standards appropriately
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Organized and self-directed work approach
