The opportunity

Job Description

Join McLaren Health Care's Emergency Services team at the Cheboygan Campus as a Patient Care Technician. Working under the direct supervision of a Nurse, you will contribute to the delivery of patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. This role focuses on performing selected patient care activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting patients and families with compassion and attention.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to help identify and attain treatment goals
  • Deliver compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families
  • Provide physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, and exercising
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste, and other policies and protocols
  • Perform other related job duties as requested

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire, issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in direct care
  • CENA training
  • Prior experience obtained through clinical nursing rotation relevant to emergency services

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 72 scheduled bi-weekly hours
  • Weekends required
  • No on-call duties
