The opportunity

Job Description

Join the Emergency Department team at Sanford Medical Center Fargo as a Patient Care Technician. This part-time position is ideal for nursing students, CNAs, or individuals seeking to gain experience in patient care and refine clinical skills in a fast-paced emergency setting.

You will provide patient-centered care and daily living assistance to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This role offers the opportunity to work with diverse patient populations and develop foundational clinical competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and daily living assistance, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, and dining support
  • Record vital statistics and other basic health information
  • Administer basic health care and medical treatments as directed
  • Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients
  • Prepare patient treatment areas for use and clean medical equipment
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
  • Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
  • Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe provision of care
  • Demonstrate strong communication, customer service, multitasking, and organizational skills

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • No weekends
  • Opportunity to pick up additional shifts
  • 24 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
  • If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training and competency validation or within a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications

Compensation

  • Salary range: $17.00 to $24.00 per hour
