Job Description

Join Florence Medical Center as a PRN Patient Care Technician supporting the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit. This 12-hour day shift position offers diverse patient care experience across multiple clinical settings, including the Emergency Department, Inpatient Unit, and Correctional Medical Unit. You will work under the direct supervision of licensed caregivers, providing essential patient support and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires a minimum of one shift per week, with opportunities for additional hours based on department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care services under the supervision of a licensed caregiver, including personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs monitoring, intake and output measurement, ambulation assistance, and implementation of selected portions of the patient care plan
  • Assist, observe, and report changes in patient condition to the licensed caregiver
  • Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered
  • Address and direct questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

  • PRN day shift position with 12-hour shifts
  • Emergency Department shift: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
  • Inpatient Unit shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Minimum one shift per week required

Orientation and Training

Patient Care Technicians receive approximately three weeks of orientation and cross-training to build confidence working in multiple settings and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or Medical Assistant (MA), or Nursing Assistant (NA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) certification, or 6 months of healthcare experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6 months of acute care experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT) license
