The opportunity

Job Description

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Creekside Medical Clinic in Rapid City, South Dakota. In this role, you will provide basic patient care services and support activities within an ambulatory clinic setting, working under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional.

As a multi-skilled Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care and clinic operations. You will work with patients ranging from adolescence through geriatrics, applying age-appropriate care and cultural sensitivity to meet their physical and psychological needs.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs including height, weight, and blood pressure
  • Perform visual acuity and color vision screening
  • Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis
  • Perform reception and clerical tasks
  • Prepare patient treatment areas for use
  • Prepare and clean medical equipment
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
  • Clean and maintain patient care areas and treatment rooms
  • Monitor stock levels of medical inventory and restock or reorder as needed
  • Work with patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care

Creekside Medical Clinic is an ambulatory care facility within Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States.

  • Employment Type: PRN (as needed)

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $17.50 - $22.50 per hour

Required Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment
  • If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Minimum of six months of experience
  • Experience in a clinic setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

  • Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Must be self-motivated and independent
  • Must work well with team members
  • Must be able to work amidst multiple distractions while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills
  • Drug screen and pre-employment background screening required as a condition of employment
