Patient Care Technician CNA Float Pool

St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Grand Junction is hiring Patient Care Technicians for the Resource Pool float position. As a Patient Care Technician, you will function as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by licensed professionals. This is a full-time position with 36 scheduled weekly hours, offering shifts available on days, nights, and mixed schedules.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, providing fresh water and ice, ambulating patients, comfort measures, and responding to other patient needs while providing excellent customer service
• Report and record patient care findings and data in a timely manner, quickly reporting changes in patient condition and securing qualified assistance as needed
• Perform telemetry duties as required based on the unit and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients, addressing patient care needs, and collaborating with the patient care team
• Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required when working on a clinical unit
• Collaborate and consult with the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care
• Assume responsibilities of a health unit coordinator, including answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, and organizing, stocking, and maintaining unit supplies
• Implement the plan of care as delegated by licensed professionals
• Perform assigned duties within scope of practice and perform specialized procedures with skill validation according to regulatory standards
• Foster a safe environment by complying with safety policies and taking appropriate action in emergencies

Required Qualifications

• Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of Colorado
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
• Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs; operate monitors; and identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent verbal communication with patient care providers, patients, and visitors; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergencies
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care and medication preparation
• Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
• Ability to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients; obtain and distribute supplies and equipment; push and pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; and navigate crowded and busy rooms
• May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly rate: $18.40 - $23.92 (actual rate dependent upon experience)
• Full-time position with 36 scheduled weekly hours
• Multiple positions available with shifts on days, nights, and mixed schedules
