Patient Care Technician - Cardiac Telemetry (3 South) - FT 0.9 (72 hrs biweekly) (72046)

This full-time Patient Care Technician position supports the nursing team on the Cardiac Telemetry unit (3 South), providing direct assistance to registered nurses and licensed practical nurses in delivering patient care. You will work 72 hours biweekly in a continuous quality improvement environment, performing clinical and clerical duties while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to hospital standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

• Perform hourly patient rounding
• Process physician orders and enter written orders into Meditech
• Maintain chart organization and answer telephones
• Coordinate patient flow and information between departments in collaboration with the charge nurse
• Assist with all aspects of patient care and unit maintenance, including cleanliness and supply ordering, as assigned by the RN
• Document patient care activities in Meditech as appropriate
• Assist with patient and family teaching
• Maintain supplies and equipment
• Enter daily outpatient and observation room charges
• Comply with all safety and infection control standards
• Communicate effectively with team members and healthcare staff
• Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families based on empathy and trust
• Promote a positive patient experience
• Seek help from appropriate resources as needed
• Maintain current knowledge of hospital policies and scope of practice
• Use proper channels of authority when communicating information
• Assume responsibility for own behavior and complete all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (will be obtained during hospital orientation)
• Current compliance with RQI requirements
• Interpersonal skills, clerical ability, numerical and manual dexterity
• Color vision and near visual acuity
• Proper lifting techniques and body mechanics
• Ability to read, write, and perform math at high school level

Schedule

• Full-time position: 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)
