This part-time day position offers an opportunity to work as a Patient Care Technician in a cardiac telemetry unit, providing direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. You will support patients with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs and other clinical data, maintain a safe care environment, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff with delegated patient care tasks and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized care environment
- Collect and record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, oxygen saturation, intake and output, and calorie counts, reporting findings to the RN, LPN, or LVN
- Support patients with meals, feeding, bathing, oral care, grooming, linen changes, skin care, elimination assistance, and urinary catheter care
- Assist with patient positioning, repositioning, dangling, ambulating, and use of mobility aids such as walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs
- Collect urine and stool samples and perform blood glucose monitoring via finger sticks, documenting and reporting results to nursing staff
- Communicate patient information effectively to the care team, adapt to changes, and maintain professionalism in all interactions
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, risk management reporting, and compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures
- May be required to maintain continuous visual observation of patients and remain with them at all times unless relieved by appropriate personnel
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all policies and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in an acute care setting
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification
