Job Description

Join Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician supporting our Cancer Unit on the night shift. As an unlicensed staff member, you will work under the direct supervision of professional nurses to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. You will provide direct patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices while observing patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and reporting any changes to nursing staff.

The facility combines the resources of a major health system with personalized community hospital care, offering private rooms and quality care focused on safety and patient satisfaction. Clinical services include advanced imaging, cancer services, cardiovascular care, emergency care, lab services, orthopedics, weight loss services, and more, all supported by Sentara eCare, a comprehensive electronic medical record system.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • One of the following:
  • Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
  • Emergency Services certification including EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic
  • Current enrollment in a clinical program (RN, LPN, RT, or PT) with at least one semester completed
  • Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant

Compensation

Base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 to $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available, including shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range varies based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Colleagues have the opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus if established system and employee eligibility criteria are met.
